Running to the European Games: registration is open!
On September 21, exactly nine months before the European Games Kraków-Małopolska 2023, online registration for the 5 km competition under the slogan "Running to the European Games", which will take place on October 16, together with the 8th Cracovia Royal Half Marathon, has started. Thanks to the race, you will be able to feel a foretaste of next year's sports emotions in our city.
Next year, Kraków and Małopolska will be the arena of the struggle of the best athletes from Europe. On June 21 at the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium, the European Games Kraków-Małopolska 2023 will officially begin.
These emotions are only in a year's time, but now you will feel like an athlete getting ready for the Games. On October 16 in Kraków, on the occasion of the 8th Cracovia Royal Half Marathon, a 5 km competition will be organized under the slogan "Running to the European Games". Participation in this race will be a great way to start preparations for next year's sports emotions.
- By organizing this run, we want to remind the inhabitants of Kraków and guests of our city that a great event awaits us next year - the European Games Kraków-Małopolska 2023. It is already a tradition that the 5 km run, organized as an accompanying event for the Cracovia Royal Half Marathon, refers to important events in the history of our country. After "5 for Kościuszko", "5 for the Independent" and "Olimpic 5", the time has come to compete under the slogan "Running to the European Games" - says Krzysztof Kowal, Director of the Sports Infrastructure Management Board of Kraków - the organizer of the run.
- In June next year, over 7000 top athletes from 48 European countries will come to Kraków. This is a good time to properly tune in before this colorful event, full of emotions, and encourage to be physically active and develop sports passion. Kraków is a city of running, what I have been observing and observing for years and I’m observing now, whether on the track of the Academy of Physical Education, on the paths around Błonia, or along the Vistula River. Therefore, it is hard to imagine a better way to bring Kraków citizens closer to the idea of the European Games than to run together in their "direction" - adds Marcin Nowak, President of the European Games 2023 Company.
On October 16 at 10:00 a.m., the participants of the run will set off on the route from the same starting line (Lema Street in front of TAURON Arena Kraków) as the half marathon runners and, just like them, they will finish in a unique scenery - in the glow of the lights on the main board inside the darkened largest sports and entertainment hall in Poland.
