5 for Kościuszko

On October 15, 2017, the runners will set off together on the course of the 4th PZU Cracovia Royal Half Marathon and 5 for Kościuszko – a 5 km run. The competition on a shorter course is set to commemorate an important historic event – the 200th anniversary of death of Tadeusz Kościuszko.

We would like to invite everybody willing to start the race from the same start line (Lema Street near the TAURON Arena Krakow) as the participants of the half marathon and finish inside one of the largest and most modern entertainment and sports venues in Poland.

The organisers of the 4th PZU Cracovia Royal Half Marathon – the Municipality of Krakow and the Sports Infrastructure Management Board of Krakow – decided to remind everybody of the 200th anniversary of death of Tadeusz Kościuszko, by organising 5 for Kościuszko – a race commemorating the hero of the United States and Poland on the day he died 200 years ago.

In 1794 General Kościuszko took the oath before the Polish nation in the Main Market Square in Krakow and took the formal lead of the insurrection as the Chief Leader of the Armed National Forces. After his death, his remains were transported to Krakow and laid to rest in the royal tombs at the Wawel castle.

We encourage everybody willing to take part in this exceptional race to register here. The registration for the 5 for Kościuszko will be open until September 30, 2017 and the registration fee is 30 PLN. In the case the limit of participants (2500) is not exceeded, we will also offer an opportunity to register at the Office of the Race on October 13/14, with the registration fee of 50 PLN paid in cash. The race is open for all runners over the age of 16 able to reach the finish line within 40 minutes.
